The Purpose of Palliative Care

Palliative Care (pronounced pal-lee-uh-tiv) is specialized medical care for people with a serious illness. Unlike Hospice care, the illness doesn't have to be terminal, consequently, patients can receive relief from symptoms in addition to any curative treatments.

The purpose of Palliative Care is to advance the quality of life for the patient, easing symptoms and side effects of a serious illness such as, Cancer, Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Kidney Disease, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and many more.

Palliative Care, relief from symptoms that cause distress

Palliative Care is essentially used to relieve pain, control depression, enhance shortness of breath, fatigue, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, and any additional symptoms that may be causing the patient discomfort.

The Circle of Faith Hospice Care Team will assist you to gain the strength to carry on with daily life.  In summary, palliative care will further improve your quality of life and get you back to living well.
