We are pleased to announce our Breathe with me care program at Circle of Faith Hospice. This program allows our nurses the opportunity to care for your loved one and manage respiratory symptoms in the home, rather than in a hospital or emergency room.
The vast majority of Hospice patients will exhibit changes in their breathing patterns. Slowness in breathing patterns is common for patients as they become closer to death. Some patients will begin to take long pauses between breaths during the final stages of life.
Nurses at Circle of Faith Hospice received specialized respiratory training to assess for an altered pattern in breathing and control symptoms in the home.
We provide patient-specific teaching for diet, medication management, and educational material. Circle of Faith Hospice will supply In-home oxygen or humidifiers at no cost to patients receiving hospice care (if needed). We offer in-home respiratory medications, “comfort kits,” to our hospice patients. The medicines we use are the same as the ones used in the Emergency Rooms: Bronchodilators (albuterol, Atrovent), Steroids (prednisone, Solu-Medrol), and Oxygen.
A primary care nurse will be assigned. This nurse will be responsible for the coordination of care through the Circle of Faith Hospice Care’s Team or your physician. In the event of an emergency, our nursing staff is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and on holidays.
